The Clark County Council is soliciting applications for two new members to sit on the Clark County Historic Preservation Commission.

Applicants should have an interest in history or historic preservation. They should also have some experience in architecture, planning, American studies, anthropology, archaeology or geography.

The historic commission meets monthly, at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday at the Public Service Center on 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

The commission seats seven people and is responsible for reviewing nominations and applications to the National Register of Historic Places, the Clark County Heritage Register and the Special Valuation Tax Incentive for historic properties. Commissioners also conduct design review for changes to buildings and sites on the local register, and oversee education and outreach.

To apply, interested persons should submit a letter and resume to Alyssa Weyhrauch at the County Manager’s Office by 5 p.m. March 1. Hard copies can be sent to P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver WA 98666-5000, and electronic copies can be sent to alyssa.weyhrauch@clark.wa.gov.
