When Jordan Chatman began heating up from the perimeter, it helped the Boston College men’s basketball team end a five-game cold snap.
Chatman, a senior from Union, scored 17 points and hit a key 3-pointer late in Boston College’s 87-82 win over Florida State on Sunday. Chatman made five 3-pointers in the second half has Boston College (10-7) snapped a five-game losing streak.
Boston College trailed 46-36 at halftime. But the Eagles started the second half on a 21-4 run. Chatman made three consecutive 3-pointers to put Boston College ahead 57-50.
Chatman, who went 0 for 5 from the field in the first half, scored 15 of his 17 points in the second — making all five 3-pointers he attempted after the break.
Chatman is averaging 13.1 points a game and has started 13 of 17 games this season.
Men’s Basketball
Robert Franks, a senior from Evergreen, scored 24 points in Washington State’s 82-59 win over California on Thursday. Franks had missed the previous four games with a hip bruise. The 6-foot-9 forward is averaging 21.5 and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Trevor Jasinsky, a junior from Camas, had 24 points in 13 rebounds in Western Washington’s 81-72 loss to Montana State-Billings on Thursday. Jasinsky is averaging 19.4 points per game, which ranks second in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Vikings (10-8, 4-4) are tied for fifth.
Tyrus Hosley, a junior from Evergreen, scored 22 points in Northwest Christian’s 87-82 loss to Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Hosley is averaging 16 points per game as the starting point guard for the Beacons (15-6).
Daelon Floyd, a sophomore from Battle Ground, had 21 points and seven rebounds in Lewis & Clark’s 80-73 win over Willamette on Friday. Floyd is averaging 10.5 points per game for the Pioneers (5-12).
Andrew Vickers, a junior from Columbia River, has moved into a starting role the past two games for Whitman, which is ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division III. Friday, he had 13 points in a 115-81 win over Puget Sound.
Nasseen Gutierrez-Orozco, a freshman from Columbia River, played a season-high 26 minutes in Pacific Lutheran’s 71-56 loss to Whitworth on Saturday. He had 11 points and four rebounds and is shooting 52-percent from the field as the Lutes’ sixth man.
Women’s basketball
Lindsay Asplund, a senior from Prairie, had nine points and six rebounds in Corban’s 79-64 loss to Eastern Oregon on Friday. Asplund, a guard, has started the last 10 games for the Warriors (14-7, 8-3).
Courtney Clemmer, a freshman from Camas, had 13 points and seven rebounds in Oregon Tech’s 81-53 win over The Evergreen State College on Saturday. Clemmer is averaging 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds as first off the bench for the Owls (13-8).
