Authorities are asking the public’s help in searching for a homeless Skamania County man believed to have been a victim of foul play in 2017.

Skamania County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a camp just north of Stevenson in October 2017 for a report of suspicious circumstances, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

The camper, William “Bill” Sutton, 55, was not found, and deputies found evidence of an assault, according to the press release. Prior to sheriff’s office response, he had been living at a nearby homeless camp with other people before moving to the new site.

Sutton was likely a victim of foul play, according to the press release. His whereabouts remain unknown as the sheriff’s office continues its investigation.

Anyone in the area of Blue Lake Road between Oct. 6 and Oct. 9, 2017 or who may have seen something suspicious can contact Detective Sgt. Monty Buettner or Detective Jeremy Schultz at 509-427-9490.
