The National Weather Service says dense fog has descended on the Portland-Vancouver area but should mostly disappear later Monday morning.

The weather service reported the locally dense fog in a short-term forecast issued shortly after 6 a.m. The affected Clark County communities include Vancouver, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Washougal, Yacolt and Amboy.

“Be prepared for visibilities of less than a quarter mile at times. Those traveling should be prepared for visibilities to change rapidly over short distances,” the forecast says.

The thickest fog will likely continue across portions of Clark County, according to the forecast.

Rain or fog, or a combination of both, are forecasted for Vancouver until at least Friday, except Thursday, which calls for partly sunny skies.
