Boys basketball: Hockinson 65, Woodland 47

Michael Paulsen scored 21 points, Dakota Souders added 20 and the Hawks used a big second quarter to earn a 2A Greater St. Helens League road win.

Hockinson (6-8, 2-4) outscored Woodland 26-13 in the second quarter to take a 40-28 lead.

Woodland (6-8, 1-5) was playing its first game without leading scorer Alex Bishop (17.7 points per game), who is no longer on the team.

“It was our first game with a lot of new personnel,” Woodland coach Andrew Johnson said. “Our effort was 100 percent, but the chemistry isn’t there yet.”
