PORTLAND — Jubitz Travel Center and Truck Stop, the truck stop in North Portland off of Interstate 5 just before you cross the bridge to Washington, is finally getting its due.
The truck stop, once called “Disneyland for Truckers” by Willamette Week, is so much more than your average truck stop. It has a theater, it has a motel, it has a deli, a grill, a barber, a laundromat, shoe repairs, jacuzzi tubs and a dog wash station.
Now, CarRentals.com is taking notice of this epic truck stop destination. “When it opened in 1952,” the blog writes of Jubitz, “it was nothing more than a refueling station off the highway, but it has grown extensively since then into a luxury truck stop.”
According to CarRentals.com, Jubitz is the second best rest stop in the entire country, falling just behind another truck stop, Iowa 80, near Walcott, Iowa, which apparently is the largest truck stop in America and includes a museum about trucking.
