Orchards — College, Career & Technical Education hosted a Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math event at Heritage High School, drawing an audience of more than 300 fifth- through eighth-graders.
Megan Dire, a Union High School graduate who is now a marine mammal trainer, was the keynote speaker.
Evergreen Public Schools staff and community partners hosted workshops and hands-on activities about robotics, virtual reality, engineering, computer programming, gaming, environmental science and chemistry.
The event ended with a panel discussion with five professional women who work in related fields, which was moderated by Superintendent John Steach.
