Wet weather and crashes are slowing the Tuesday morning commute in Vancouver and all over the Portland area.

The Washington Department of Transportation reported about 8:50 a.m. that a multiple-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 5 at Milepost 3 near Main Street has all lanes blocked.

Vehicles are squeezing by the crash on the left shoulder, according to an alert from the transportation department. Officials asked commuters to use caution and “alternate routes if known.”

An earlier crash was reported about 6:53 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 at Milepost 3 near Main Street that blocked the left lane. By 7:30 a.m. southbound traffic was backed up on I-5 and onto state Highway 500.

That crash was cleared around 7:45 a.m.

No crashes had been reported on Interstate 205 as of 9 a.m., but stop-and-go traffic is stretching back to the Salmon Creek area.
