Men’s basketball: Lane 94, Clark 87

After a strong start to the season, the NWAC South has been rough so far on the Clark College men’s basketball team.

The Penguins fell to 0-2 in the South region after a 94-87 defeat to Lane on Saturday at the O’Connell Sports Complex in Vancouver.

Clark (7-5, 0-2), hung tight with the Titans (13-2, 1-1) until late in the second half. The game was tied at 72-72 with 7:16 to play and Lane gradually pulled away.

Parker Gaddis led the Penguins with 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Sam Scarpelli and Tyler Fernstrom each scored 18 points, and Matt Garrison added 10.

Clark did have a 31-19 advantage in rebounds.

Lane’s Tarik Cool led all scorers with 31 points on 10 of 19 shooting.

CLARK — Sam Scarpelli 18, Sethon Moore 6, Tyler Fernstrom 18, Parker Gaddis 25, Matt Garrison 10, Comillion Smith 3, Jalen Scott 7, Hunter Endresen 0, Brantley Schinkelwitz 0, . Totals 30-62 (7-15) 20-28 87.
