A strong low pressure system moving along the Oregon Coast is expected to bring strong winds to parts of Oregon and Southwest Washington tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds of 25 mph to 35 mph are forecast, with gusts of 40 mph to 50 mph at lower elevations and up to 60 mph at higher elevations, forecasters said in an wind advisory released early this morning.

The wind advisory will last from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday, though the windstorm is expected to arrive around midnight and last less than three hours.

The strongest winds are likely to occur along the central Oregon Coast and the southern part of the Willamette Valley, with the storm weakening slightly as it moves north, the advisory said.

The storm may blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs, cause scattered power outages and make travel difficult for high profile vehicles, the advisory said.
