Prairie’s boys basketball team couldn’t have picked a better time to play its best game of the year, according to its head coach.
“Without a doubt,” Kyle Brooke said, “… and it’s coming at the best time of the year.”
The Falcons went a perfect 8 of 8 at the free throw line the final quarter, had clutch outside shooting from multiple players, including 10 fourth-quarter points from senior Kam Osborn in a 72-61 nonleague home victory Friday night over 4A Skyview.
On a night Prairie also honored its 1998-99 state championship volleyball team, Osborn also honored for suprassing 1,000 career points.
Friday, he finished with a game-high 33 points to surpass Richie Sexson for second all-time in scoring at Prairie.
Prairie (5-7 overall) outscored Skyview 23-9 after trailing by three going into the final eight minutes, Aiden Fraly (16 points) hit a 3-pointer to jump start Prairie in the fourth and Osborn hit back-to-back 3s inside 2 minutes to help lift the Falcons.
Prairie also held Skyview (10-3) to two second-half 3-point field goals after the Storm hit eight in the first half. Alex Schumacher and Jace Chatman each had 15 to lead the Storm.
“To play the seventh-ranked 4A team at home and to play that well and win, it continues to build our momentum going into the final stretch of league,” Brooks said.
