A Vancouver man died Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a guardrail on state Highway 14 in Skamania County east of Washougal.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Anatoliy V. Romashchenko, 33, was heading west on Highway 14 around 3:15 p.m.

The state patrol said Romashchenko failed to negotiate a left turn near Marble Road, about 5 miles east of Washougal, and rode his Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle into the guardrail.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state patrol.

Romashchenko was wearing a helmet, troopers said, and the crash was under investigation.
