Central Vancouver — The Rotary Club of Vancouver and Rotary Club of Greater Clark County took 115 children shopping for winter clothes on Dec. 4 at J.C. Penney at Vancouver Mall as part of the clubs’ fifth annual Santa Clothes program. During the shopping spree, kids picked out new clothes and shoes with assistance from 130 Rotarians and other volunteers, while staff members from the store provided special shopping assistance and discounts. The children came from programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, The Salvation Army, Share and Bridge the Gap. They also received backpacks from the store. The Santa Clothes program is funded by the clubs and Rotary District 5100, along with grants and discounts from J.C. Penney. Santa Clothes was introduced to the Rotary Club of Vancouver by its late member Bob McBrien, who formerly coordinated the program at the Rotary Club of Las Vegas.
