A man jumped out of a moving car and was run over Thursday afternoon on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard in east Vancouver.

At about 1:15 p.m., a black Subaru Crosstrek was traveling westbound, just before Southeast 136th Street, when a disturbance between the car’s two occupants prompted the passenger to open the door and exit the car while it was still moving, Vancouver police Sgt. Tim Huberty said.

The car’s back passenger-side tire ran the man over, Huberty said. He was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center; his condition is unknown, but medical personnel treated him as a trauma patient, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Two lanes of traffic were shut down for roughly 30 minutes as police investigated. Just after 2 p.m., the Subaru was driven from the scene with no noticeable damage.
