A two-alarm fire damaged a small store early Sunday in Bagley Downs.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded to a strip mall at 5910 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd. shortly after 5 a.m. The first arriving engine found smoke coming from Novedades Lizy, a retail clothing shop, and requested additional resources, according to a Vancouver Fire Department press release.

A sprinkler system had been activated when crews entered with a hose and found heavy smoke throughout and fire in the attic, according to the press release. A ladder truck accessed the roof and cut a hole, which allowed smoke to rise out of the building, the press release said.

The fire was stopped within 30 minutes, according to the press release. No one was inside at the time, the release said.

Six fire engines, two ladder trucks and two battalion chiefs responded, according to the release. The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the blaze.
