Clark hoop teams lose at Umpqua

Parker Gaddis scored a game-high 22 points, but the Clark College men’s basketball team came up short against Umpqua 72-68 in an NWAC South region game Saturday at Roseburg, Ore.

The Penguins (13-12, 5-9 South) held just brief leads in the early part of the game as NWAC No. 4-ranked Umpqua (19-8, 12-2) gradually pulled away in the second half.

Gaddis also had seven assists and seven rebounds.

Sethon Moore added 17 points for Clark, and Matt Garrison had 12 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Fernstrom led Clark with eight rebounds.

WOMEN: AT UMPQUA 83, CLARK 63 — Hailee Neibauer came off the bench to lead the Penguins in scoring with 15 points and five steals in Clark’s loss to No. 4-ranked Umpqua (23-4, 12-2).

Mahrysa Thomas had a double-double for 12 points and 10 rebounds for Clark (5-20, 3-11), Jodi Thomasian had 14 points, and Payton Wangler had 10 points.

Clark hosts Chemeketa on Wednesday in its final home game of the season. Sophomore night at the O’Connell Center tips off at 5:30 p.m. with the women’s game and 7:30 p.m. for the men’s game.
