A woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a car Thursday in Vancouver’s North Image neighborhood.

A car driving southbound shortly before 5 p.m. on Northeast Gher Road near Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard struck the woman, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Bryan Fredrickson said. An off-duty police officer reported that the woman was not breathing, and she was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Fredrickson said.

The southbound side of the road was closed briefly, Fredrickson said. “The goal was to have a short scene time because she did have serious injuries.”

Officials are not releasing any further information as the incident is still under investigation, Fredrickson said.
