Some Basic Food benefits, otherwise known as food stamps, will be issued earlier than normal in March, the state Department of Social and Health Services said Wednesday.

Those who normally receive food benefits between the first and 10th of the month will receive them as scheduled. Those who get their benefits between the 11th and 20th will receive them earlier due to the early issuance of February benefits that was prompted by the federal government shutdown.

This applies to the Washington Basic Food Program, Washington State Combined Application Project, Food Assistance for Legal Immigrants and Transitional Food Assistance.

The benefits issued early in March are not extra. April’s benefits will be issued on their regularly scheduled date.
