CAMAS — The “Thanks for the Memories” celebration to honor the Crown Park pool has been rescheduled, and will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Camas Community Center, 1718 S.E. Seventh Ave. The event was previously canceled due to snow.

The party will allow guests to share pool memories and photo boards, meet the city’s parks and recreation staff, and take selfies near the pool with water-themed props. Guests are encouraged to bring their historical or memorable photos of the pool building or of themselves and family members enjoying the pool’s amenities. Staff will be on hand to scan up to five photos, which will be saved for archival reference at both the Camas Public Library and the Two Rivers Heritage Museum.

The pool opened in Camas more than 65 years ago, although it hasn’t been used in more than a year and is scheduled to be demolished later this year. City officials have discussed building a new pool on the same spot, or replacing the pool with a splash pad. In May, some local kids tried to raise enough money to save the pool by opening a lemonade stand.
