A Vancouver man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly striking a pedestrian in Hazel Dell as he was fleeing the scene of an accident.

Around 5:45 p.m., a black Ford F-150 and black Toyota Corolla collided during a lane change near the intersection of 99th Street and Northeast Sixth Avenue, causing minor damage, Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jonathan E. Mancillia, 24, got out of the car and began speaking with the driver of the other vehicle. Mancillia said he needed to grab insurance information from the truck but drove away once he was inside, Rothenberger said.

The other driver then followed Mancillia as he drove a few miles per hour over the speed limit, Rothenberger said.

About 1 mile away, Mancillia allegedly struck a pedestrian crossing Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue near Northeast 82nd Street.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Rothenberger said.

Mancillia remained at the scene after the pedestrian was struck, Rothenberger said. He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run along with other traffic violations.
