LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Winnebago Industries said this week it will close its diesel motor home factory in Junction City, Ore., and shift production from there to Iowa.

Winnebago bought its Lane County, Ore., facility in 2015 from a shuttered motor home company, Country Coach. The Iowa company said the Oregon site hadn’t met profitability goals and that consolidating production will enable it to operate more efficiently.

The Junction City factory has 250 employees and will retain just 30 afterwards, in an aftermarket and parts facility. Layoffs will begin in April, according to a notice the company sent to state employment officials.
