We finally got a little snowfall from the weak deformation band that set up after my writing on Tuesday. It took its time but the steady light snow didn’t amount to as much as it could have.
Now we are facing a bigger threat of snow, meaning several inches, say 4-6 inches or more, arriving by Saturday. Cold air is entrenched in the Columbia Basin and as another cold weather system drops down the British Columbia coast, we have all the ingredients for a good snowfall.
The weather system Monday remained just off the coast and the main snow band gave coastal residents a rare treat. This time, the low is forecast to stall around Tillamook and spin moisture over the cold air in place. Meanwhile, behind the low, more arctic air will be pouring in from the north.
This means our coastal communities in Southwest Washington will see rain change back to snow on Saturday. Lesser amounts will fall there than here in Clark County. I’m going all out on this, but I’m writing this Wednesday afternoon and the event is on Saturday. Something could change with the position of the storm.
