Lauren Weatherspoon scored 14 points and ran a solid floor game as the Titans won the 4A bi-district first round game at Kentwood.

“We played a great defensive first half, holding them to 14 points,” Union coach Gary Mills said.

Union (17-5) led 44-27 after three quarters, but let Kentwood back in the game before getting some stops in the end to preserve the victory.

Union will advance to face Bellarmine in the next round, depending on the weather.

“To get the win tonight is huge so we don’t have to depend on the weather,” Mills said. “It’s not often your season depends on a weather report.”
