The Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council is accepting project applications for federal grants from local governments, schools, public agencies and transit agencies.
The Transportation Alternatives grants are awarded to projects that expand travel options, bolster the local economy, protect the environment and improve residents’ quality of life, according to council staff.
Many projects are aimed at enhancing non-motorized transportation such as walking or biking.
Grant applications are due May 1. Council staff recommends applicants work with the regional planning body to ensure applications meet federal and state requirements.
