Volunteer Connections/RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), a program of the Human Services Council, is looking for volunteers for the following assignments:

Bloodworks Northwest seeks volunteers for flexible shifts with training provided, for a variety of duties including monitoring donors and serving as ambassadors to increase public awareness.

Court Appointed Special Advocates is hosting a one hour informational session for volunteers interested in advocating for the best interests of abused children in the state’s care. The event is at 6 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Community Room of the YWCA on 3609 Main Street.

Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center is looking for volunteer visitor center hosts. Hosts will work three hour shifts mornings or afternoons, Friday through Sunday. Duties include greeting visitors, selling merchandise, providing tours, and guiding activities.

Columbia Springs is also recruiting park stewards to help maintain trails, control invasive species, make minor repairs, and plant trees. Docents to assist with guided tours are also needed. Training begins soon.

Confluence Project seeks volunteers to help with gardening, painting, tabling at various events, or helping in the office with special projects. Weekend and evening volunteer shifts are often available.

North County Community Food Bank needs volunteers to help stock food shelves, sort and inspect food items, prepare client orders, and unload daily deliveries. Volunteers are also needed to help with housekeeping duties such as sweeping, vacuuming and organizing.

The Southwest Washington Amphibian Monitoring Project is looking for volunteers to help survey and monitor frogs and salamanders in bodies of water throughout the county. Training is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 3 at the WSU Vancouver campus in the library building, where volunteers will learn to identify various amphibians. Coffee and hot water for tea is provided by Peets; please bring your own mug or cup. No pre-registration required.
