A 22-year-old was transported Saturday morning to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center after being injured by an accidental gunshot.

According to Camas police Sgt. Chuck Nadgwick, police responded to an incident where 22-year-old Alder Deschand had been wounded in his left hip. He said the incident occurred in the home of 22-year-old Spencer Altfilish who was disassembling a 9mm handgun while Deschand was standing near him when the weapon discharged.

He said the wound was not life-threatening and that Deschand was a guest of Altfilish. Officers interviewed both men and multiple witnesses who were at the residence. They concluded the incident was an accident and no charges were filed, he said.
