BEIRUT — Carlos Ghosn, the former head of Nissan Motor Co. and Renault SA, left Japan and arrived in Lebanon, the FT and Dow Jones reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.

Ghosn, who was facing trial in Japan for alleged financial misconduct at Nissan, fled because he doesn’t believe he will get a fair trial in the country, Dow Jones said. The FT said it wasn’t clear if he fled or if a deal had been reached.

The 65-year-old former executive, who led the Nissan-Renault alliance, was released on bail for a second time in April, with the conditions that he live at a registered address and not leave Japan.

Lebanese newspaper L’Orient-Le Jour also reported Ghosn’s arrival in Lebanon, his parents’ homeland.
