Letter: Religion a choice

By John Monaco, Vancouver

American voters, especially women voters, ought to think long and hard about supporting Mr. Trump and his administration in the 2020 election if they support a woman’s right to reproductive choice.

A primary goal for Evangelical Conservative Christians as well as Conservative Catholics is to use Mr. Trump to overturn Roe v. Wade and initiate policies that allow discrimination toward minority groups by legislating religion into everyday life in America.

Religion is a choice and not to be forced on those who choose differently. The president’s lack of honesty, integrity and respect does not seem to bother them: only fulfilling their agenda. Supreme Court appointments under Trump have brought the number of conservative Catholic justices to six out of nine. These folks do not represent the country as a whole. There is no requirement for experience, only loyalty to Trump in some instances. These people are willing to blur the line between separation of church and state to achieve their goals. What they have achieved and attempt to further achieve will have a lasting effect for decades, long after Trump leaves office. Vote for honesty, integrity, the right to choose and respect for others.
