The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Wednesday the award of about $4.3 million in rental assistance for veterans who are homeless or at risk or becoming homeless in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Washington’s award includes $385,740 for Vancouver Housing Authority to provide 50 Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing or VASH vouchers.
“There may be no other group more worthy of receiving assistance to insure that they have a safe, affordable place to call home,” the department’s Northwest Regional Administrator Jeff McMorris said in a news release. “They have done their duty to us and HUD VASH is part of our duty to them.”
VASH combines rental assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development with case management and clinical services provided by the VA.
