An Enumclaw man died after exiting a moving pickup truck and being struck by a back tire Thursday morning on Interstate 5 just north of Woodland.

Around 10 a.m., a white 2017 Ford F-450 was headed north when the backseat passenger opened a door and exited the truck. Washington State Patrol said the 29-year-old man died after being struck by the right rear tire.

The man had some medical issues and was verbally arguing with his parents, who were in the front seat, Trooper Will Finn said. His father, who was driving the truck, attempted to slow down and pull over but couldn’t stop before his son opened the door.

The man, Christopher B. Jensen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
