RIDGEFIELD — Sunset Ridge Intermediate School sixth grader Madeline Bruguier took first place in Ridgefield School District’s Superintendent’s Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest.
Her winning design features a scarf-and-hat-wearing reindeer and snowman against a backdrop of snow and mountains with a speech bubble saying, “Winter Wishes,” which was the contest theme name.
Bruguier’s card was selected by judges as best exemplifying that theme. Her design will be featured on the cover of the district’s holiday greeting card, which is mailed out to other districts, public entities and businesses on Ridgefield School District’s holiday mailing list. Bruguier also received $50 in cash.
There were three runners-up: Elina Caine, a seventh grader from View Ridge Middle School; Kelsey Heath, a first grader from Union Ridge Elementary; and Mae Jones, a kindergartner from South Ridge Elementary. Each received a $25 cash award. All four students were recognized at the district’s Tuesday board meeting.
In its sixth year, the contest was created by the Ridgefield School District in partnership with the Ridgefield Art Association to “promote student creativity and encourage student appreciation of the arts,” according to a news release.
