Orangetheory Fitness is set to be the next tenant at The Waterfront Vancouver development when it opens in the first half of 2020.
The fitness gym chain is looking to relieve some of the crowds at its other two locations in Clark County with the new spot in the RiverWest building at 700 Waterfront Way.
Faith Fear, studio manager at the Hazel Dell Orangetheory Fitness, at 7902 N.E. Sixth Ave., said her location is one of the busiest in the Portland metro area, and it has “well over 1,000” members.
“This Waterfront location is going to help relieve that a lot,” she said.
The new waterfront Orangetheory Fitness will likely be slightly larger than the Hazel Dell’s location, she said, but the exact spot in the RiverWest building was not available.
The studio will have the same basic templates for the classes: about 36 people per class, which are scheduled almost every hour from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Faith said, and the classes are a one-hour, full-body workout in a group setting led by an instructor.
The classes are designed by expert fitness coaches and are distributed regularly to the locations, which number more than 1,200 worldwide.
“Generally when new locations start, we have a baseline schedule, and as the need arises, there will be more classes,” Fear said.
The owner of the franchise that owns the Hazel Dell studio and the new Waterfront Vancouver location, Honors Holdings LLC., is the leading franchisee of Orangetheory Fitness locations in the world.
RiverWest, an apartment complex that opened in 2019, holds ZOOM+Care, and Airfield Estates Winery is also under construction on the south side of the building. Orangetheory Fitness will be the third retail tenant in the RiverWest building.
“Its definitely going to be a great way to build brand awareness,” Fear said. “We’re excited for it.”
