North Dakota oil production surged 5 percent in October, hitting a new record and topping the 1.5 million barrel-per-day mark for the first time.
Natural gas production in North Dakota also rose handily in October in North Dakota, setting a record.
“In summary, it should be a very happy holiday for the state of North Dakota,” Lynn Helms, director of the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources, said in a web conference with reporters.
North Dakota, the largest oil-producing state after Texas, pumped out 1.52 million barrels of crude per day in October, up from 1.44 million in September. Gas production in October increased nearly 4 percent over September.
