The Titans can forever say they won the first game in Mount Si’s new gym.

And took down the Seattle Times preseason No. 1-ranked team in the process.

Behind 28 points from Tanner Toolson, the Union boys basketball team knocked off No. 1 Mount Si 68-51 on Saturday in Snoqualmie.

“Toolson was on fire tonight,” Union coach Blake Conley said. “And his defense was amazing too.”

Toolson was 6 for 6 from behind the 3-point arc, 4 for 4 from the free-throw line and also had five rebounds.

Kaden Horn added 18 points and Brad Lackey 10 for the Seattle Times’ No. 2-ranked Titans (6-0).

After a 10-10 first quarter, Union was able to pull away by outscoring Mount Si 22-15 in the second quarter.

Jabe Mullins and Tyler Patterson scored 17 points each for Mount Si (1-2), last year’s 4A state runner-up.
