Vancouver Clinic expanding to east Vancouver-Camas border

Vancouver Clinic is building a new location on the border of east Vancouver and Camas that is set to open in November and will offer urgent care, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, labs and imaging.

The clinic, at 4500 S.E. Columbia Palisades Drive, is being built in the former Fisher Quarry near Highway 14, and the clinic has been eying the spot since 2016. It will be the eighth location for the health care company and will span two stories and 26,400 square feet, according to a news release from Vancouver Clinic. The building will be constructed with the ability for future expansion of an additional 30,000-square-foot structure.

“Our new Columbia Palisades location offers easy access to (Highway 14) and allows us to expand primary care and add a new vision center,” Chastell Ely, director of marketing and strategic communication, wrote in an email to The Columbian. “We have a thriving vision center in Salmon Creek and our other locations simply do not have the room for expansion. We are also out of space at our other clinics to expand primary care access.”

The clinic will hire about 50 full-time employees, which includes clinical and support staff, Ely wrote in the email.

Ely said that the growth of Clark County is the main factor for Vancouver Clinic’s expansion.

“Clark County continues to grow,” she said. “We started looking toward the east.”

Vancouver Clinic purchased the 4.4-acre property for $4.1 million, according to county property records. Ely said Vancouver Clinic hired Portland-based Andersen Construction and Seattle-based McKinstry to construct the building.

The clinic opened a Ridgefield location in August, and has signed a lease for 5,806 square feet of space at The Mill on East Mill Plain Boulevard in central Vancouver, Ely wrote in the email. Physical therapy services now at the Vancouver Clinic on 87th Avenue will move into that space in the spring, she wrote.
