KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 59, COLUMBIA RIVER 56 (OT) — The Knights fended off a last-second drive from Marc Miranda in regulation to send the game into overtime, where they rallied for the non-league victory.
Kobi Cason scored a game-high 18 points and Bryson Metz added 11 for the Knights, who improve to 1-1 on the year.
“That’s some of the toughest defense we’re going to see all year,” River coach David Long said of the Knights. “It was a great basketball game.”
Columbia River, who was without point guard Nate Snook, got 13 points apiece from Alex Miller and Dylan Valdez. Marc Miranda had 11 points.
Snook injured his leg in a collision in an exhibition game Monday night. The MRI and x-rays came back negative and the doctors called it a bone bruise.
“We’re hoping to get him back by the end of the week, but I’m not optimistic,” Long said of last year’s 2A Greater St. Helens League co-player of the year.
