Abby Kaip had a game-high 21 points, including hitting 5 of 8 3-pointers in Union’s 61-37 nonleague home victory Wednesday over defending 3A state champion Prairie.

Union coach Gary Mills praised his team’s ball movement, defense and low turnovers. The Titans committed just nine in the game to improve to 2-0.

“That’s a heck of a number against a team that pressures for most of the game,” the coach said.

Mackenzie Lewis added 9 points for Union and Lexi Raymore pitched in 8.

Prairie had two players in double figures, led by Claire Heitschmidt’s team-high 15 points. Meri Dunford added 10 and Allie Corral had nine.
