I hope you are enjoying the pleasant summer weather this weekend as some real summer weather is almost upon us.
Summer will go out with a bang this week as our highs will be at 90 degrees or higher Tuesday through Thursday. I’m hoping a little less offshore flow of winds on Thursday will keep us in the 80s but maybe not. We will be in the mid-80s Monday, and as many children go back to school Tuesday, we’ll shoot upward to 95 degrees. I hope the kids still have some summer apparel because they will need it; no jackets this week waiting for the school bus.
We also have the last three-day weekend holiday of the summer this weekend with Labor Day. I believe we will see more clouds but remain in the warm category of 80 to 85 degrees. Summer will hand over the warm baton to autumn next Sunday. For us weather folks, Sept. 1 is the beginning of the autumn season.
Our official 90-degree tally here in Vancouver is six days this year; we’ll surely add two or maybe three more. That’s still below the annual average of 14 days. Who’s complaining? Last Thursday morning, the day after those rain showers, we saw our coolest overnight low temperature this month in Vancouver with 50 degrees. I had several reports of low- to mid-40s farther out in the county and also some shallow ground fog.
Soak in the tolerable temperatures today, and get ready for the hot stuff coming up.
