Vancouver mayor gets hands-on training in firefighting at conference in Honolulu

Esther Short — Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle suited up as a firefighter to test her understanding of public safety and her endurance during the 87th annual U.S. Conference of Mayors in Honolulu. She was one of more than 35 mayors to participate in Fire Ops 101 during the conference, held in late June. Elected leaders participated in emergency response scenarios, including cardiac arrest, live fire, vehicle extrication and search-and-rescue, with professional firefighters and paramedics supervising.
