We picked up one-tenth inch of rain between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday, about what I figured. It took awhile for the clouds to break up in the afternoon, but we still reached 80 in Vancouver. Enough to settle the dust at the Clark County Fair without didn’t impeding the fun.
Hot air over the Great Basin extended over us Saturday. We should get to 90 or better today and probably Monday. If you don’t want to visit the fair in the heat, wait a couple days. As the week goes on, temperatures will decrease as clouds increase.
As the hot, dry air retracts back to the south, that pesky jet stream over Vancouver British Columbia will try and dip southward again and some forecast charts hint of showers by the weekend. Oh no! But hey, if this pattern continues, we don’t get too hot, only a little rain falls, and the days in between are as Goldilocks once said, “just right.”
Let’s just take the next few days in stride and enjoy the cooler temperatures on the way. It may be the dog days of summer but subtle changes are taking place as the summer season begins its downhill movement. I notice it is a lot darker around 5:30 a.m. or so. The crickets are in their prime and squirrels are going nuts gathering their stash for the winter.
