Columbia Springs Stewardship Saturday is a day to work on maintaining the Columbia Springs site through planting native plants, removing invasive species, maintaining trails and improving the accessibility and safety of the site. All supplies are provided, groups are welcome. Events will be held today and Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Meals on Wheels People are recruiting volunteers to help with parking, greeting visitors and collecting donations at the Six to Sunset Concert Series in Esther Short Park. Shifts run from approximately from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

North County Community Food Bank seeks volunteers to stock food bank pantry shelves, sort and inspect food item donations, prepare client food orders and monthly commodities for distribution, unload daily deliveries, take in donations, maintain cleanliness of the food bank and other tasks as needed. Volunteer drivers are also needed to assist with picking up fresh produce, cooler, meats and bakery items from local Battle Ground grocery stores. Drivers usually begin their day at 7:30 a.m. and are asked to serve one 4 to 5 hour shift per week.

SHARE’s Summer Meals Program needs volunteers to meet at the Covington Middle School kitchen and work in groups to chop fruits and vegetables, make sandwiches, portion menu items into bags and pack individual lunches. Meals will then be counted and placed into coolers for each site. Help is needed from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Minimum age to help is 10.
