Thorns tie Sky Blue 1-1

Portland Thorns’ Christine Sinclair scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season from a penalty before Imani Dorsey leveled for Sky Blue in the second half and the teams finished with a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Providence Park.

Portland (7-2-6, 27 points) dropped from the top spot in the National Women’s Soccer League, falling behind North Carolina Courage by a point.

Sinclair scored in the 39th minute after Hayley Raso was taken down to earn the penalty kick.

Dorsey’s goal came in the 69th minutes with an assist from Elizabeth Eddy.

Sky Blue (2-10-3, 9 points) snapped a three-game losing streak. The team finished the match with 10 players when Amandine Pierre-Louis was sent off for a second yellow card.
