We are certainly enjoying a little bit of heaven right now as we have entered an unusual period of fair skies and sunshine with highs above the seasonal averages. We may see some marine clouds by Thursday, but no rain.
A large area of high pressure has a northerly flow over us, keeping us on the dry side of things. The air mass is so dry that our afternoon humidity yesterday was only 30 percent, which would be a great humidity we would see in July. So, a bit of summer dryness today, although no excessive heat. How about 70 degrees for a high today?
The cool air mass did give many locations around Clark County a good freeze, with Battle Ground at 30 degrees Sunday morning and downtown Vancouver at 34 degrees. It was a little warmer Monday morning, with Vancouver registering a low of 39 degrees, but patches of frost remained in the outlying areas.
Looking at all the weather charts Monday afternoon, I saw no rain through the weekend. So, the merry month of May will arrive high and dry. April started off wet, and it appeared it would be a dreary month; however, it lightened its spirit, and we — along with the weather — were singing in the breeze.
