Man in court in home invasion robbery

A man accused of being one of several people involved in an October armed, home invasion robbery in the Rose Village neighborhood was arraigned Monday.

Shaun Marcus Turner, 18, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and first-degree kidnapping. Turner pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Judge Robert A. Lewis did not set bail, according to court records.

Vancouver police responded shortly after 1 a.m. Oct. 31 to an apartment at 2010 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. for a noise complaint. Two women said they had been robbed at gunpoint inside the apartment by several males wearing bandannas over their faces, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

A witness told police that another victim, 18, jumped from a second-story window to escape the robbery and was shot at while riding a bicycle down the street by an unknown person in a silver vehicle, according to the affidavit. The teen was not injured, the affidavit said.

The robbers stole several items and ransacked the apartment, according to the affidavit. During the incident, one woman reported being kicked into a wall, and another reported being forced into a bathroom and told to stay there, the affidavit said.

The robbers were looking for concealed drugs, the affidavit said.

Turner and other suspects were positively identified in photo montages, according to the affidavit. One of the victims said she knew the two males and tried to ask for her property back before being denied, the affidavit said.

A trial has been scheduled for June 11 in Turner’s case, according to court records.
