State honors 9 corrections employees who work in Clark County

Nine state corrections employees who work in Clark County received Department of Corrections Annual Agency Awards on Friday during a ceremony in Tumwater.

The awards recognize employees for their continuous work to improve public safety. Staff members are nominated for the awards by their colleagues each year.

Seven of the award recipients work at Larch Corrections Center in Yacolt, and two work at community supervision field offices in Clark County, according to a DOC press release. A total of 162 DOC employees received awards out of 1,050 nominations.

The following Clark County employees were awarded:

• Community Corrections Officer of the Year: Rob ‘Rees’ Campbell, Vancouver field unit.

• Correctional Officer of the Year: Lerue Edwards, Larch Corrections Center.

• Community Partnership: Nancy Simmons, corrections specialist, Larch Corrections Center.

• Community Partnership: Zilvinias Jakstas, chaplain, Larch Corrections Center.

• Equitable and Inclusive Workplace: Lisa Flynn, superintendent, Larch Corrections Center.

• Excellence in Service: Mark Francis, corrections officer, Larch Corrections Center.

• Outstanding Performer: Jason Richer, correctional unit supervisor, Larch Corrections Center.

• Outstanding Performer: Suzann Braverman, community corrections supervisor, West Vancouver Community Justice Center.

• Valor: Laurence Miller, correctional officer, Larch Corrections Center.
