WASHOUGAL — A parent-child drop-in program called 1, 2, 3 Grow & Learn received a $500 grant from the Camas-Washougal Community Chest to continue its work helping children develop skills to succeed in the classroom.
“The work we do in these groups help children learn with focused parent-child time, allows them to socialize and meet other children and families, as well as improve their school readiness through classroom activities and snack time,” said program leader Julie Jacobson. Additionally, the Reach for the Stars through Books program was started in a partnership with The General Federation of Women’s Clubs Camas-Washougal to provide each child with a book-filled backpack.
Offered through Educational Service District 112 at Hathaway Elementary School in Washougal, and available to all children through age 5 in Camas and Washougal, 1, 2, 3 Grown & Learn meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, September through June.
