Vancouver Clinic offers prediabetes class

Vancouver Clinic is hosting a two-hour prediabetes class May 18 for people to learn how to prevent diabetes.

The class is designed for those who have been diagnosed by a health care provider with prediabetes, impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance or metabolic syndrome, according to a clinic press release.

It will run from 10 a.m. to noon in conference rooms 1 and 2 at Vancouver Clinic, 700 N.E. 87th Ave., Vancouver. The class costs $25.

During the class, participants will:

• Learn about the diagnosis of prediabetes.

• Create a meal plan with good health, lifestyle and personal goals in mind.

• Make a personal physical activity plan.

• Learn how to reduce fat while keeping flavor in your diet.

• Learn how to interpret a food label.

• Develop a plan for reasonable weight loss, if needed.
