Fire damaged a house late Sunday night in Vancouver’s Carter Park neighborhood, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:55 p.m. to the 500 block of West 33rd Street to reports of heavy smoke in the area, according to a fire department press release. Crews arrived three minutes later to find fire burning on the outside and rear of a house.

Crews called for two additional engines and used a hose line and chain saws to reach the fire and get it under control in less than eight minutes, according to the press release. It said there was minimal damage inside the house and that the two adults living in the home were able to stay in the residence.

No injuries were reported.

Crews from five engines, one ladder truck and two battalion chiefs responded to the fire. Clark County Fire District 6 assisted.

The fire remains under investigation. The press release included a reminder to have working smoke detectors and to always discard flammable materials in a metal container away from the home.
