Weather Eye: Sunny skies expected today, rest of week, save for chance of rain Tuesday

Happy Easter! We scored a beautiful spring weekend weather wise in our area and most of the Pacific Northwest as well. Mostly sunny skies Saturday pushed the afternoon highs into the 60s locally.

It was even sunny and nice along the coast with sun shining on the clam diggers and no rain. Today will be almost a repeat of Saturday, maybe a few morning clouds along the coast and locally. But the afternoon will be sunny.

The upcoming week looks fair with the best chance of any showers on Tuesday.

Boy it is hard to believe the first day of May is almost here, ten days from now we usher in another new month. And with abundant rainfall the first half of the month, we should enjoy plenty of those May flowers.

There is nothing like a spring day with sunshine and warm temperatures. I saw many older convertible cars with tops down and folks enjoying cruising around. The car wash was busy, the lawn mowers roaring and the smell of afternoon and evening barbeques were in the air.

April rainfall so far measures three inches in Vancouver, which if we don’t have more rain the remaining days we would end up exactly on average. Last year, April had 3.32 inches, 0.31 of an inch above normal.

Meanwhile, Eugene has measured over seven inches of rain this month, making it the third wettest April on record.

We are running about two degrees above average. Those that live in the greater Vancouver urban area are now free from any killing frost.

I’ll see you on Tuesday!
