Battle Ground Parks and Recreation celebrates National Volunteer Month by cleaning up Kiwanis Park and the Battle Ground Community Center at Fairgrounds Park. From 9 a.m. to noon April 20, volunteers will pick up litter, rake and weed flower beds, clean playground equipment and spread bark or playground chips. The city of Vancouver and the Urban Forestry program invite volunteers to the Land Bridge Earth Day Weekend Work Party from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 20 at the Old Apple Tree Park. Activities include planting and pruning native vegetation, applying mulch, and picking up litter at the Land Bridge as well as along the Waterfront Trail and in Old Apple Tree Park. This event is open to people of all ages, abilities, and veteran or nonveteran statuses. Tools, gloves, and training provided. Barbecue lunch at noon.
